The Light and Dark of Living is an ongoing exploration of light and dark throughout my home. A project started in lockdown, a time when the home became our primary living space, forced to stay home I began to observe and watch as the light broke into the house at different times of the day, in different rooms, through different windows, bringing warmth and light then moving on to the next.

Lockdown was a dark time, uncertainty and panic sweeping over the world, yet for some there was safety in the home, peace, a time to reflect. For others the home would of been and still is a very dark place, a prison, trapped where tiny chinks of light are prayed for. 

 

Yet there was much light for many, families brought together, time slowed down as the fast pace of life was taken away from us, a time to just be.

These photographs of my home explore these themes, there is peace, there is uncertainty, there is darkness but most of all there is always light.
