Hanging Forms

Untitled, Hanging Forms, 2017

Each form tells it’s own story, what do our bodies say about us? How do we feel about them? There are parts of us we choose to hide and others reveal, just like our true selves, we all have our own stories to tell, our bodies can show the marks of certain life events, births, pregnancies, operations, being the scars that we carry with us forever.

Just as with physical scars we often carry emotional scars with us too. Although these cannot be seen, only to be revealed to those we choose to show them too. Stomachs are a part of the body not often seen or shown, other than to or by those closest to us.

Look closely and you can see the stretch marks and scars, life’s marks. Women's stomachs in particular are subject to great changes over the years, many women feel self conscious and a certain kind of loss of an old self after pregnancies, not that the new self is any less, just different, changed by time and life.

Untitled explores our relationships with ourselves, our bodies, our memories and our past.
